"Not a Martini" is what it is

2 cocktails: 1/2 leaf of sage, 1/2 tsp cane sugar, 12 cl Lillet, 4 cl Gin, 2cl limoncello, ice.

Wouldn't it be great to discover a new wet Martini recipe that tastes great, someday?
The concoction above tastes great but is not a Martini. It all started with an upside-down version of a wet Martini where I reversed the traditional mixture of vermouth to gin from 1:3 to 3:1. Classical dry Martinis on are supposed to have no more than a homeopathic note of Vermouth. Personally, I prefer higher Vermouth concentrations which provide this drink with more of the interesting bitter and citrous notes. Wet Martinis may have a 3:1 or in the case of 'extra wet' a 1:1 gin to vermouth ratio.
As mentioned, the mixture for this particular attempt was reversed and thus became something entirely different, but - and I hope you agree - it is very tasty. The Lillet and sage provide an interesting touch of bitterness.
Crush sage with sugar. Add to ice, Lillet, Gin and Limoncello and shake well. Strain. Done!
Oh well. I am starting to wonder if "Cocktails & Lectures" was the right name for this Blog. I yet have to get started with preparing lectures for next semester before time gets away from me and everything has to be done in a rush. I see it happening but at this point other things seem more important ... like coming up with and savouring new cocktails for example.
Zum Wohl, cheers, enjoy.
