Spice up your Halloween with the "Vampire Zoo"

2 cocktails: fresh rosemary, 8 cherry tomatoes (or 4 cl tomato juice), 2 tsp olive oil, 1 tsp cane sugar, 10 cl port wine, 3 cl mandarin liquor (or 3 cl Cointreau), ice.

Feeling excited or frightened about what is to come? Blood-red and full of deep, aromatic flavour, this potion makes the perfect sedative if preparing for halloween or for your walk through the neighbourhood. It is also one of my favourites.

Rosemary, tomatoes and olive oil. This triplet adds an unexpected kick to your cocktail.

Crush sugar with rosemary. Crush cherry tomatoes. Add tomato puree/juice to ice, mandarin liquor (or Cointreau) and port wine. Shake well. Double strain to get rid of the fleshy and skinny tomato stuff as well as the rosemary shards. Wait for the dark and feed when the time has come.

I favour fresh cherry tomatoes but they can be replaced by a few cl of tomato juice. Feel free to experiment and let me know how it worked.

Argh. Where are my lecture notes?... never mind.

Zum Wohl, cheers, enjoy.

Naming Cocktails

is like naming your baby.

Well, actually it isn't. Coming up with cocktail names is fun and of no consequence, giving you all the freedom you like.

If you like it cheesy, funny or mysterious, these names are born out of the moment, the mood of the (cocktail) hour if you like.

The Quality

of your ingredients makes all the difference.

Take a whiff from a bottle of some popular Gin types in your nearest sports bar and compare to the smell of one like Monkey 47, for example. You'll be blown away by the latter, I promise.

Think twice before trying to save a few bucks on inferior spirits.
