2 cocktails: curcuma, 2 cardamom pods, 2 coffee beans, 4 cl rum, 4 cl Maraschino, 4 cl dry vermouth,10 cl Crodino, ice.

Does your Christmas-themed cookies and candles coffee table decoration feel incomplete? Try this cocktail as a new centerpiece to help you tune out from the daily US-post-election news cackophony and get into the holiday spirit.

This brew is another result of extensive experimentation with the objective to make winter cocktails with darker notes. The botanicals nicely emphasize the winter theme and season spirit. In particular the faint taste of coffee and curcuma lends this concoction a wonderful smoky feel.

Grind pods and beans in a mortar with a pinch of curcuma. Add to rum. Stir and let infuse for a few moments. Clear the mixture by passing it through a paper towel. Shake the flavored rum with Maraschino and vermouth and pour over ice in glasses pre-filled with Crodino.

Zum Wohl, cheers, enjoy.

Naming Cocktails

is like naming your baby.

Well, actually it isn't. Coming up with cocktail names is fun and of no consequence, giving you all the freedom you like.

If you like it cheesy, funny or mysterious, these names are born out of the moment, the mood of the (cocktail) hour if you like.

The Quality

of your ingredients makes all the difference.

Take a whiff from a bottle of some popular Gin types in your nearest sports bar and compare to the smell of one like Monkey 47, for example. You'll be blown away by the latter, I promise.

Think twice before trying to save a few bucks on inferior spirits.
