A day to get hammered with the "Dizzy Dissident"

2 cocktails: 8 cl gin, 8 cl dry vermouth, 3 cl blue curacao, candied ginger (optional), indian tonic, ice.

I hope you pardon the juvenile title. To me, however, the event that lends significance to this day, feels like a good reason for some serious adult drinking. Just this one time. We'll sober up over the weekend and get back to work next week.

If you are, like myself, struck with disbelief by how quickly not only the public discourse but also friendships and even family relationships have been affected by the last two years of political tectonics, then this cocktail is for you. Join me with making our heads spin some more.

I cut the candied ginger into small pieces which can then be squished with a mortar before being added to a shaker, along with gin, vermouth, curacao and ice. Again, the candied ginger is optional and mostly just muddies the waters. Shake, strain, pour and down ... several if you feel like it.

Zum Wohl, cheers, enjoy.

Naming Cocktails

is like naming your baby.

Well, actually it isn't. Coming up with cocktail names is fun and of no consequence, giving you all the freedom you like.

If you like it cheesy, funny or mysterious, these names are born out of the moment, the mood of the (cocktail) hour if you like.

The Quality

of your ingredients makes all the difference.

Take a whiff from a bottle of some popular Gin types in your nearest sports bar and compare to the smell of one like Monkey 47, for example. You'll be blown away by the latter, I promise.

Think twice before trying to save a few bucks on inferior spirits.
