Take a spin with the "Funky Ride"

2 cocktails: 8 cl gin, 2 cl limoncello, 10 cl San Bitter, ice.

It doesn't get much simpler. This cocktail is as clean and as dirty as the mid-1990s bars and watering holes which my gorgeous wife and I were roaming during our one-year stint in the Big Apple.

The color of this drink is also a reminder of the plush interior of our vintage Chevy Malibu. A memorable gas guzzler which eventually fell victim to the supreme driving skills of a New York cabbie. This one is for you honey and for all dear friends found in America.

San Bitter used in this brew is a close cousin to the orange-coloured, bitter-sweet Crodino, another one of my favourite non-alcoholic cocktail additives. Fortunately, San Bitter can be purchased on both sides of the Atlantic, from Amazon or your specialty liquor store.

Mix ingredients with ice, stir and enjoy.

BTW: This blog entry in no way means to endorse drinking and driving. You shouldn't even be drinking and de-riving, in the mathematical sense. You know, like all the sudden 1 plus 1 equals 3.

Zum Wohl, cheers.

Naming Cocktails

is like naming your baby.

Well, actually it isn't. Coming up with cocktail names is fun and of no consequence, giving you all the freedom you like.

If you like it cheesy, funny or mysterious, these names are born out of the moment, the mood of the (cocktail) hour if you like.

The Quality

of your ingredients makes all the difference.

Take a whiff from a bottle of some popular Gin types in your nearest sports bar and compare to the smell of one like Monkey 47, for example. You'll be blown away by the latter, I promise.

Think twice before trying to save a few bucks on inferior spirits.
