2 cocktails: 4 cl Blue Curacao, 4 cl Crodino, 4 cl sweet Vermouth, 4 cl gin, ice.

This is an homage to the character of John Tavner, aka John Lakeman, played by Michael Dorman in the "Patriot", a recently released comedy-drama series produced by Amazon Studios. It became an instant favourite (drink and series) which lead us to consume plenty of both within a short time.

I love the mysterious, deep-green tint of this concoction, best seen with indoor lighting. None of the ingredients should be missing, otherwise the colour, taste or medicinal impact of this drink will suffer.

Simply mix and shake or stir, pour over ice and you are done! Add a dash of Angostura orange bitter if you like.

The "Patriot" plot summary on Wikipedia reads: "To prevent Iran from going nuclear, intelligence officer John Tavner must forgo all safety nets and assume a perilous non-official cover ("NOC") -- that of a mid-level employee at a Midwestern industrial piping firm" to which he is simply known as John Lakeman. Absolutely nothing in his mission goes according to plan and he is thrown into surreal situations from which escape seems impossible. I find the main character very likeable, deep and full of contradictions, surprises, unexpected darkness and unassuming humour - just like the entire series. One of my favourite Amazon productions in a while.

Zum Wohl, cheers, enjoy.

Naming Cocktails

is like naming your baby.

Well, actually it isn't. Coming up with cocktail names is fun and of no consequence, giving you all the freedom you like.

If you like it cheesy, funny or mysterious, these names are born out of the moment, the mood of the (cocktail) hour if you like.

The Quality

of your ingredients makes all the difference.

Take a whiff from a bottle of some popular Gin types in your nearest sports bar and compare to the smell of one like Monkey 47, for example. You'll be blown away by the latter, I promise.

Think twice before trying to save a few bucks on inferior spirits.
